Monday, February 19, 2007 - 4:30 to 5:30 pm
Senior executives from Schering-Plough Corporation (a generous sponsor of the 2006-2007 Wharton Business Plan Competition) provide students with three unique perspectives on what it takes to launch a life sciences/biotechnology company today.
Video Segments
Introduction by David Piacquad (WG’84), Schering-Plough's Senior Vice President for Business Development.
Sumant Ramachandra, MD, PhD, Schering-Plough's Vice President, Global Development for Oncology, helps students better understand the realities and pitfalls of the product development process – from pre-clinical research through proof of concept....and beyond.
Stacey Seltzer (WG'04), Senior Manager Global Licensing, speaks about the process of collaborating with a large pharmaceutical company.
David Piacquad wraps up the session by providing students with an understanding of corporate venturing and a top 10 list of some of the commonly encountered challenges and mistakes made by entrepreneurs who are seeking funding.
